More Consideration Is Needed Before Taking a Special Order
Recently, on the Internet I saw a piece of news about a dispute over consumption behavior. A famous bakery got an order of making a special cake from a couple. This special order costed NT$16, 000 and the couple had to pay the bill before the cake was made. However, the couple was regretted, so they decided to cancel their order, asking a total refund from the bakery. The bakery refused a total refund, so the cost of materials and packaging was demanded and it costed NT$3, 500. The bakery argued that the materials were imported from abroad and they could not be used to make another cake because quite few people would make the same order. The couple was very angry because this kind of payment was not stated in the clauses of their order. As a result, they filed a lawsuit against the bakery and asked the bakery to return the money they deserved to get back. I think the couple would win the lawsuit because consumers get more protection in a transaction. In a word, more consideration is needed before taking a special order. In a transaction, cancellation is legal protection, so the bakery should think of that before it takes the order, especially a special order.
