The Impact of Banning Dining-In on Business of Restaurants
The alert state is going to be lowered down to the second grade. Many local governments have canceled banning dining-in, but some local governments keep banning dining-in. If banning dining-in would not influence business of restaurants, this policy should keep going. Nevertheless, if banning dining-in could make business of restaurants slip down, this policy might cause disagreement and anger of people. People enjoy clustering, and dining-in is the most common way of clustering. Therefore, banning dining-in, in my opinion, could make business of many restaurants drop a lot.
There is no denying that dining-in could increase risk of spreading of COVID-19. However, I think this kind of risk could be controlled. If operators of restaurants take good precautions, COVID-19 might not spread easily. If confirmed cases of COVID-19 do not increase sharply in regions not banning dining-in, it proves that this kind of risk could be controlled through appropriate precautions. As a result, the anger of people could make local government banning dining-in change their policies.
