In Taiwan, the recycling rate of plastics is extremely low, most of recycled plastics are sent into incinerator by the recycling industry. I think that is because costs of recycling these plastics are too hign, exceeding benefits the recycling industry could obtain from them. If we can rinse these recycled plastics to make them clean, not just put them into recycling bins without any cleaning, costs of cleaning these recycled plastics would be lower down effectively. Furthermore, if we could make a clear classification of these recycled plastics and always gather the same material in one bag, the recycling industry would not need to take extra costs to hire people to make the classification. That is to say, effective cleaning and clear classification could lower down costs of recycling plastics. If benefits exceed costs, the recycling industry would not send recycled plastics into incinerator and the recycling rate of plastics would be increased. The plastic bags in the picture are packages of rice rolls of FamilyMart. Seeing there is a recycling mark on the package, I think it is recyclable. Therefore, after finishing these rice rolls, I always give these packages a thorough cleaning and collect all of them in one bag without other recyclable plastics. For me, different materials are put in different bags. If most people are willing to recycle plastics in the same way, I think the recycling rate of plastics would get enhancement in an effective way^_^
