Last year oak trees in the Northeast region did not produce any acorn for an unknown reason. Perhaps they are trying to compensate what happened then; this year oak trees around my house produce more acorns than any year I can remember.
Every night acorns would fall from trees onto roof, deck, driveway, and just about everywhere in the yard. When an acorn falls on roof or deck, it will make a big echoing sound because I got wood shingle roof and deck. Well, it sounds like monks hitting wooden fish. Every night dozens of acorns would fall onto roof and deck. The echoing wooden fish sound is getting more and more annoying. But, when I saw squirrels busy hiding acorns for the winter (if you ever watch Ice Age the movie, you would know what I am talking about), I would feel the noises are tolerable. After all, these small creatures had a terrible winter last year due to the lack of acorns and big snow storms. Surely they too deserve a break.
Now... all I have to do is get a hard hat to protect myself while walking and working in the yard... [:)]
