讀萬卷書不如行萬里路，這是中國的諺語之一。
有相當多的人同意這句諺語的內容，
他們很喜歡旅遊，尤其是國外旅遊。
然而，我是一個怪胎，認為閱讀比旅遊更有趣。
我並不喜歡旅遊，因為這會花很多錢，
此外，它也會花很多時間來準備旅遊期間的日常用品。
對我而言，旅遊所帶來的利益只比所費的成本多一點點而已。
但是，透過閱讀我可用很少的成本獲得相同的娛樂效果，
換句話說，閱讀介紹旅遊景點的書籍，
對我而言，可以達到與旅遊相同的效果。
毫無疑問地，親身體驗為我們帶來閱讀無法帶來的特別感覺，
然而，我並不在乎這些特別的感覺，
因此，我不認為我必須透過旅遊來體驗這些特別的感覺。
國外旅遊的不利之處是我們不容易選到一個好時間。
當我們抵達目的地的時候，天氣可能不利於走到戶外，
因此，到國外旅遊時，我們最好祈求上帝賜給我們好天氣，
如果天氣不好，我們旅遊時可能會覺得掃興。
國外旅遊的另一個不利之處就是時差。
很多人認為它沒有什麼關係，因為到國外旅遊一定得忍受。
然而，我認為它不利健康，所以我拒絕忍受，即使只有幾天。
閱讀介紹旅遊景點的書籍可以很快地拓展我們的視野。
透過閱讀相關書籍，要非常了解旅遊景點只需幾個小時，
然後我們就可以找到很多話題與人閒聊。
然而，透過國外旅遊，要找到相同的話題得花好幾天，
而且這還會讓我們花費了數量不少的金錢。
因此，閱讀介紹旅遊景點之書籍所帶來的樂趣，
比到國外旅遊所帶來的樂趣還要多很多。
舉例來說，兩個男人，約翰與湯姆，同時愛上美女瑪麗，
約翰與湯姆同樣帥氣、體貼、富有，
約翰喜歡到國外旅遊，但湯姆偏好閱讀。
有一個七天的假期當中，約翰到國外旅遊，
但是湯姆把他全部的時間都花在閱讀上面。
約翰沒有向上帝祈求賜予他好天氣，
所以在他的度假期間，老天一直在下雨。
在假期結束之後，約翰與湯姆分別把瑪麗約了出來。
在約翰與瑪麗見面時，他無法找到很多話題與她閒聊，
因為這些話題只能是他幾個所到之處的旅遊經歷，
以及一直下雨讓人覺得掃興的惡劣天氣。
在湯姆與瑪麗見面時，他有很多話題與她閒聊，
像是在日本、韓國、印尼、泰國、中國大陸、
紐西蘭、澳洲、美國、歐洲各國的旅遊景點。

在四天連假的最後一天，也就是今年的第一天，
我花了一些時間閱讀一本有介紹美國旅遊景點的書籍。
它讓我度過了美好時光，即使裡面聚著寒氣，外頭飄著細雨。
我認為它是值得閱讀的，因為我可以有很多話題與人閒聊^_^
Reading Being Much More Interesting than Traveling
Traveling tens of thousands of miles is much better than reading tens of thousands of books, which is one of Chinese proverbs. Quite a large number of people consent to this proverb, and they enjoy traveling a lot, especially traveling to foreign countries. Nonetheless, I am an eccentric, thinking reading is much more interesting than traveling.
I do not like traveling abroad because it would cost me a lot of money. Moreover, it also would cost me a lot of time to prepare daily necessities I need during my traveling. For me, the benefits of traveling abroad is only little more than the costs of that. However, I could obtain identical entertainment through reading only with little cost. In other words, for me, reading books with regard to introduction of sightseeing spots has the same effect with traveling to these places. Undoubtedly, real experience brings us special feelings which reading cannot bring. However, I do not care about those special feelings. Therefore, I do not think I have to travel abroad to experience those special feelings.
The disadvantage of traveling abroad is that it is difficult for us to choose a good time to do that. When we arrive at our destinations, the weather might not be good for us to go outdoors. Accordingly, we had better pray God to grant us good weather when we travel abroad. If the weather is not good, our mood for traveling might be spoiled.
Another disadvantage of traveling abroad is time difference. Many people think it is all right because they have to suffer it when traveling abroad. However, I think it is not good for health, so I refuse to take it even only for several days.
Reading books with regard to introduction of sightseeing spots could enrich our horizons very quickly. Knowing a lot about the sightseeing spots by reading relevant books only takes several hours, and then we could find a lot of topics to have chats with others. Nevertheless, to find the same topics through traveling abroad, it would take us several days and cost us quite a lot of money. Hence, the fun of reading books with regard to introduction of sightseeing spots is much more than that of traveling abroad. For example, two men, John and Tom, both fall in love with a beauty, Mary. John and Tom are equally handsome, thoughtful, and rich. John enjoys traveling abroad, but Tom prefers reading. During holidays of seven days, John goes traveling abroad, but Tom spends all of his time on reading. John does not pray God to grant him good weather, so it keeps raining during the vacation of John. After the holidays, John and Tom ask Mary out respectively. When John is seeing Mary, he could not find a lot of topics to take with her because these topics could only be about his traveling experience about the few places he has been to and the bad weather of raining, making him feel spoiled. When Tom is seeing Mary, he has quite a lot of topics to talk with her, such as the sightseeing spots in Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Mainland China, New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and European countries. Who do you think could be able to make Mary have a better time and win the heart of Mary?
On the last day of the four-day holidays, also the first day of the year, I spent some time reading a book having introductions of sightseeing spots in the United States. It made me have a good time even though it is chilly inside and drizzling outside. I think it is worth reading because I could have quite a lot of topics to talk with others^_^ |
