A rose-red city in Jordan .

The Siq will be the first place you visit .

It s a mile-long cleft , dim & gloomy , in some places only 3 meters wide .

Gorge was formed by a geological fault .

Siq is now lined w/stones that were sacred to people who lived in the city beyond .

Along with the stunning architecture , the rose-red sandstone that encloses the

valley has been described as giving the city a blush of dawn color .

Petra has become a symbol of Jordan .

It was made a UNESCO world Heritage Site in 1985 .

But now it s already endangered by erosion resulting from drainage system .

Tourists need to show some respect to this delicate treasure .
