This is the day
Yes, this is the day! This is the week!

It was 37 years ago that I came to this land in LA's Torrance. And within a week, it was my first July 4th long weekend. Seems to be a dream, and it was not. The reality checked in that was a surprise to all of us within our church. I came, I stayed, and I traveled many countries eventually after I married to a wonderful woman from Perdue with four children all graduated from college with a nice career.

I went together with the pastor at the church to see him off at the Taipei International Airport. He asked me one question: Do you like to go to America? I responded to him, if there is an opportunity. And the opportunity appeared after 3 months. I got a phone call to come to the US. With all the paper work along with my first passport, I was setting to leave Taiwan within 6 months.

My job was in the warehouse. Meanwhile, I study and got my first driver license. I went to a community college for improving my English skills after my work. I bought my first Toyota small car, and began to take people to church on Friday night and Sunday morning, too.

Subsequently, I became a salesperson for a bridal gown company seeing bridal shops as far as San Francisco besides Los Angels. An Asian man selling bridal gowns? Yes, that was what I did. Normally, the shop managers or owners are all women, or I should say more than 90%. It was lots of fun dealing with them. I was selling at about half of the price compared to others. And we were able to delivered the gowns within 6 weeks instead of 6 months here in America. My boss was Tom Chen. Good man for sure! Love this boss. And our gowns with shinny beads were all handmade in Taiwan at the time.
