被控82項性侵罪的美國名作曲家布魯克斯（Joseph Brooks），22日在紐約寓所自殺。
他在1977年以勵志名曲「你照亮我的生命」（You Light Up My Life）一曲獲得奧斯卡獎和葛萊美獎。
紐約警方表示，布魯克斯和朋友相約共進午餐，朋友中午到他寓所發現大門未鎖，他服裝整齊地陳屍客廳，
是用塑膠袋和毛巾蒙住頭頸，注入氦氣自殺，並留下3頁長的遺書，裡頭對性侵罪名矢口否認。
73歲的布魯克斯身兼作曲家、導演和劇作家，
1977年執導低成本電影「你照亮我的生命」，並創作同名歌曲，
不但拿下奧斯卡最佳原創歌曲，也讓主唱的黛比潘（Debby Boone）拿到最佳新人獎，
這首歌紅極一時，成為勵志歌曲經典作。
布魯克斯在2009年被捕，罪名是在網路刊登廣告，誘騙女孩到他住處「試鏡」，
要求對方扮演妓女，然後在酒中下藥性侵，受害者13人，他被控82項性侵罪名，正在等候審判。
近來他的財務陷入困境，積欠以前的事業夥伴債務，法院裁決他必須償還200萬美元。
